We are delighted to be able to share some positive news following Care Inspectorate inspections of two of our services last month.
Both our Sycamore Way service, in Banchory, and Community Living Project (CLP) service supporting people in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, received grades of 5 - Very Good - for the Key Questions: How well do we support people's wellbeing? and How good is our care and support during the Covid-19 pandemic?
Both inspection reports praise staff's knowledge of infection prevention and control (IPC) and use of PPE and highlight their enabling attitudes. There is also acknowledgement of opportunities for people to be involved in activities - both through Inspire and within the local community - being maximised.
Some positive quotes from the Sycamore Way report included:
"Staff believed in people's potential and worked flexibly to respond to the challenges that the pandemic had presented."
"The premises were clutter free and clean while retaining a homely feel."
"Staff had completed necessary infection control training and were able to tell us the measures they would put in place in the event of an outbreak of Covid-19."
The CLP report said:
"Innovative measures were employed to support everyone as much as possible. If positive cases or isolation necessitated changes, the person was not neglected. Strategies were in place and the person had welfare calls, were supported with essentials such as food, and reassurance was on hand. They would have felt 'cared for' in that stressful time."
"During isolation or lockdown periods people were enabled to participate in online activities such as cooking and quizzes. Activity packs were delivered to people's homes and wellbeing phone calls were organised. This ensured that people had chat and contact during the day, as well as a little bit of fun and intellectual stimulation."
"Staff had all done appropriate training in infection prevention and control (IPC) and in using personal protective equipment (PPE)."
Well done to all involved at both services for these deserved positive reports.
