Inspire statement in response to Phase 2 of easing lockdown restrictions
The Scottish Government’s announcement that as of yesterday (June 18th) we can enter Phase 2 of the Routemap out of Lockdown and begin to transition further from the current restrictions is a welcome development, but one which, you will understand, requires cautious and considered management in relation to the people we support and our staff.
Listening to the First Minister it was reassuring to hear that we are now starting to see the suppression of the virus but also concerning that we are still very early in this process and the potential for a second-wave of Coronavirus and return to Phase 1 remains a possibility.
An important point of yesterday's announcement is that you can now meet members of two separate households outside, whilst social distancing with up to a maximum number of eight people. For example, someone we support could meet their family in the park - their parents from one household and their sibling from another - providing everyone socially distances and the maximum number doesn't exceed eight people or two households.
This change will take place once the necessary risk assessments have been updated and authorised. We ask that you grant us the time to complete this process and please be assured that we will prioritise based on individual circumstances.
In the meantime, please note that until advised otherwise, there is no change to any of our guidance and our existing policies and procedures remain in place.
