Activities Blog - November Review

Sparkles Ball

We have seen lots of crazy weather this month, but that’s not stopped the people we support

from getting out and about and involved in lots of fun activities all over the North East.

The month kicked off with the Inspire Firewalk. Everyone was really excited to see this event

back on the calendar for the first time since the pandemic. A number of people we support

and their staff broke arrows on their necks and braved walking across the hot coals before

enjoying a burger from Cafe Ahoy, and enjoying watching the fireworks with our very own

birds eye view from our head office in Aberdeen.

The start of November was pretty much a non-stop birthday party at St James’s Court in

Inverurie, with three people we support celebrating their birthdays on the first three days of

the month! That’s a lot of cake.

Fraser made a healthy kale, chorizo and rice stew and Nicola enjoyed a trip to the Garioch

Heritage Centre, where she found all the missing lego pieces. Quite a few got crafty making

a very cool and sparkly fireworks painting.

Colin, Emma, Joyce and Maureen all enjoyed a trip to Aberdeen, where they had food at

Cosmos, then went to see Sister Act at His Majesty’s Theatre. Colin also went along to see

Westlife, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

In Peterhead George has recently enjoyed a trip to the Grampian Transport Museum in

Alford, which he absolutely loved. His late Dad used to drive the large snow ploughs, so

George was really happy to get the chance to see one similar in type to what his Dad would

have driven.

The guys in Peterhead also enjoyed a late Halloween Party, while Clunas also celebrated his

birthday and enjoyed a trip to see Disney on Ice. Harry enjoyed a trip to Annie Mo’s to try out

all the comfy chairs.

Another event that made a comeback this year was the Fun Olympics. Boccia, golf, target

practice, hockey slalom, and so much more was on offer for the people we support at the

Fun Olympics held at the Beach Ballroom. The event was organised in association with the

Aberdeen City & Shire Hotels Association, Aberdeen City Council and Sport Aberdeen.

Inspire's Teams, Inspire Me and Be Inspired, took part in 10 different sporting events and

scored lots of points, while having lots of fun and working together to help everyone out. We

didn't win the top prize, but everyone was a winner for taking part and got a medal. The Fun

Olympics was followed by some much needed food, and rounded off with a disco. I think

everyone went home very happy and also tired.

Our November Supper Club in Aberdeen was another huge success at Cafe Ahoy. It was a

busy night where everyone enjoyed the Lasagne, followed by apple crumble and a game of

bingo.

Our weekly Chin WAGS group in Aberdeen have made rocky road traybakes, S’mores,

created very cool fireworks pictures, enjoyed some fun and competitive games on the Wii,

had a visit from the Critter Keeper, where they enjoyed holding a Lizard, big snail and a

snake. They have also enjoyed a movie day, karaoke and much more.

In Aberdeen lots of people we support, and their staff, joined the annual Christmas Parade

and Light Switch on in Union Street. Despite it being a really cold evening, everyone had a

great time and enjoyed the parade and seeing the lights being switched on, before enjoying

a pizza and Rock n Roll bingo back at the Inspire office.

Everyone is now starting to get into the festive spirit and I am sure December will be a super

busy month!
