Activities Blog - August Review

Wow, August has been a super-busy month for the people we support at Inspire! From harvesting tatties, to enjoying lots of trips, getting creative and enjoying adventures, the people we support have definitely enjoyed an action-packed month!

August saw two of our annual activities making a return "in person" for the first time since the pandemic! Our Beach Party at Balmedie was a massive success, and, as you can see from the photos, lots of people came along and had an amazing time. A sea of purple t-shirts also joined the Celebrate Aberdeen Parade at the end of the month, and everyone enjoyed the procession down Union Street.

David and Linda from one of our Banchory services took advantage of some free table tennis sessions at Aberdeen Sports Village. David used to play years ago, and he really enjoyed the opportunity to play again. He loved having Linda along with him to show off his skills.

The performance car show at Fraser Castle was a massive hit with quite a few people we support from services in both Inverurie and Aberdeen. They enjoyed looking at all the new and classic cars as well as enjoying the BMX bike display - which was pretty spectacular!

One of the team's dogs, Epic, visited St James's Court in Inverurie. She was a massive hit with both the people we support and the staff and she loved the cuddles and extra attention. The people we support there have also been busy harvesting Lupin to recycle the seeds to use again to plant next year. They have also been picking and preparing lots of potatoes from the garden.

In Peterhead, Clunas has been busy painting the planters in the garden, enjoying a bike ride and catching up with his friend George. The weekly drop in centre in Aberdeen has been busy. Those attending have enjoyed a trip to the Zoology Museum and Botanical Gardens, cup cake making and decorating, dancing, karaoke and lots more.

Charles from one of our services in Aberdeen was the first person to enjoy a wee trip in the new Trishaw bike. Lots of new volunteer pilots have been trained as part of the scheme in conjunction with Cycling Without Age Scotland and Sport Aberdeen. Charles loved the experience and he is hoping to enjoy more trips in the Trishaw in future.
