Growing up, I was always passionate about caring for others. From a young age I would always go above and beyond to support family members with different health needs. I always felt happiest while helping others - making a real difference to the lives of those around me is what I have always thrived on so pursuing a career in Support Work was a no brainer for me. I studied Social Sciences Level 5 at NESCOL and then joined Inspire in May 2021, following the career path I had planned for myself.
Two years on in my role with Inspire, I am delighted to have completed my SVQ 3, and I am also in the process of completing the ‘Potential Managers’ course. I feel so honoured to be supported and given the opportunity to advance in my learning at Inspire and I look forward to developing my qualifications and skills further.
I remind myself daily how capable I am to achieve my goals of helping the people we support get the best out of life. Each day at work is different, which means we are presented with new challenges and tasks in our day to day roles. This means that individually and as a team, we have to be resilient and focused on carrying out our roles. There is literally no better feeling than seeing the people we support happy.
When I look back on my career so far, I am so proud of how far I have come and how much I have learnt. I feel as a young person, choosing and starting a career is pretty daunting. But if I could give any advice, I would say to not be influenced by negative comments - as long as you're doing what’s best for your future - because, at the end of the day, it’s your life, nobody else's.
